Message center

The main purpose of the message center is to deliver messages from system administrators to the users. For instance messages could be sent prior to system maintenance to notify users about possible downtimes. When unread system messages are in the message center, the following icon will appear in the top right corner below the menu bar of the page

messageicon.

If no unread messages are in the message center, the following icon is displayed messageicon2

Users assigned to the same company are also allowed to send messages to each other. When unread user messages are in the message center the following icon is displayed in the top right corner below the menu bar of the page messageicon3.

At the top of the message center a menu is displayed that offers the options available. Below that menu is a list of all messages that the user has received or sent depending on if the user has chosen to view the inbox or sent message. At the right side of the list of messages is the display area for the message itself, which includes an additional input field if creating a new message.

When the message center is opened the Inbox is presented, but to go back to the Inbox the following button in the message center menu can be clicked messageicon4. Messages appear in the Inbox list that has four columns. The first column indicates the status of the message, the second column denotes the date the message was sent, the third column show where the message is from and the last column contains the subject of the message. Unread system messages are marked with this icon messageicon , while unread user messages are marked by messageicon2. When a message has been opened the following icon is displayed in front of the message messageicon5 . When a message line is selected it is displayed in the display area to the right and if the message was unread before it was selected it will immediately be marked as read.

To view sent messages the messageicon6 button should be clicked. The list for sent messages is similar to the one for received messages, except that the third column contains the name of the recipient of the message. The status column indicates whether the message has been read by the recipient or not.

When a message is chosen additional options are displayed. One of these options offers the user to reply to the chosen message, which can be performed by clicking the following button messageicon7 , writing the reply and then clicking the Send button. Messages can also be forwarded by clicking the messageicon8 button, selecting recipients from the drop down menu, make an addition to the message if preferred and then click the Send button. Messages from the inbox can also be deleted by selecting a message and click the messageicon9 button.

When creating a new messageicon10, replying or forwarding messages, the message center goes to edit mode. In addition to the display area field to select recipients and subject could be displayed. Recipients are chosen from the drop down menu and the message subject is entered into the Subject field. When the message has been written into the message area the message is sent by clicking the Send button. The user can exit the edit mode without sending the message by clicking the cancel icon cancelicon.
